Takaful Ikhlas Eyes RM8 Million In Gross Contributions From Non-Muslim Sector

KOTA KINABALU, April 23 (Bernama) -- Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd expects gross contributions from non-Muslims to increase to RM8 million this year from RM1 million previously.

Its president/chief executive officer, Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman, said the company was confident of achieving the target via the increase in the recruitment of non-Muslim agents to 200 from 50 currently.

He said the company's penetration rate, in particular the takaful sector, was still low due to lack of effective network or access.

"Considering the vast opportunities still available, the company last year set up a new unit to attract more non-Muslims," he told Bernama in an interview at the recent Malaysian Unit Trust Week in Kota Kinabalu.

Syed Moheeb said non-Muslims' gross contributions made up 19 per cent of the company's total, mostly under groups or companies.

"With the setting up of the new unit, we hope to aggressively tap the non-Muslim market and attract more of them to individual other than group products," he said.

He said Takaful Ikhlas was confident of achieving this aim as takaful products were universal and emphasised fairness in terms of protection and returns on savings.
